Celebrating our 29th Anniversary!
The primary purpose of The Friends of Sagamore Hill is the preservation of the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. In order to meet this objective, we need to raise funds, either through special fundraising events, through Membership dues, or through individual or group donations. These funds allow us to work with the National Park Service toward the goals of preserving the historic integrity of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site and the historic legacy of Theodore Roosevelt, and to provide services of coordination, education, information, publications, and other support services on the cultural background, natural resources, preservation and protection of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site and the life and times of Theodore Roosevelt.
As the kick-off to our year-long 2022 Fundraising and Membership Drive, on February 2, 2022, The Friends of Sagamore Hill proudly presented:
Making History On-Screen
A live conversation (via Zoom) between acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns and renowned historian and writer Geoffrey Ward discussing their many collaborations, including The Civil War, the making of The Roosevelts series, comparisons among the three Roosevelts they studied, their new series on The U. S. and the Holocaust, etc.
The discussion was moderated by distinguished historian and Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer.
Q&A with attendees followed the conversation.
Admission to this very special virtual event was Free. However, we asked that all attendees either become a Member of The Friends of Sagamore Hill or make a Donation. Please click the "Find Out More" below button for more information on how to become a member of The Friends of Sagamore Hill or to make a donation.
In June of 2014, The Friends of Sagamore Hill sponsored a fundraiser that celebrated the premiere of Ken Burns' The Roosevelts An Intimate History on PBS. Both Ken Burns and Geoffrey Ward were in attendance. This fundraiser netted close to $4,000, providing needed funds so The Friends could continue their work of preserving and protecting the Sagamore Hill National Historic Site. It also enhanced the Site as a significant historical monument. Click on the Download buttons below to view the 4-page program from that evening.
