FOSH members Dave Passoff, Jeff Rosenking, and David Robbins (l to r) were on hand to engage with visitors and hand out free copies of the Declaration of Independence.
The Caliope Brass Band had a shady spot near the pet cemetery and entertained with lively period music which could be heard throughout the park.
Park Superintendent Jonathan Parker spoke from the piazza. Jonathan emphasized that the National Parks belong to all of us, our children, and our children's children.
TR re-enactor John Dobmeier also spoke from the piazza. TR quoted from Lincoln's Gettysburg Address reminding us of the importance of preserving democratic principles of a government "of the people, by the people, for the people."
Old Glory flies proudly in front of the Theodore Roosevelt House. The flagpole was sorely in need of restoration. Thanks to funding from FOSH, the pole was sanded down to bare metal, primed, and painted, all in a matter of days.
Site grounds and trails are open every day.
