Honoring the Foundation of Our Democracy
In honor of U.S. Constitution Day, FOSH members will be at Sagamore Hill on Saturday, September 13, to give out FREE pocket-sized copies of the Constitution.
Stop by the picnic area to say hello and get your copy of this important document.
Coloring pages and word games relating to TR and his family will be available for the kids!
Constitution Day, September 17, formally established in 2004, invites everyone to revisit and recommit to the ideals embedded within its articles and amendments. It is a day to remember the courage of the Founding Fathers, the struggles of generations who fought for inclusion, and the ongoing journey toward realizing the full promise of democracy.
On September 17, 1787, in the sweltering heat of Philadelphia, 39 delegates put their signatures to the parchment that would become the United States Constitution. Their bold action marked the culmination of months of heated debate, compromise, and hope. The Constitution was more than a framework for government; it was a declaration of the nation’s aspiration – a promise to create a more perfect union.
